Journalists in South Sudan are operating at their own risk, said the owner of a newspaper raided by four security agents on Sunday.

Nhail Bol told the SCR News that he tried to open a case against the security agents who raided The Citizen’s compound and beat his driver but he was told no case could be opened against senior officers.

He added that his driver was arrested Sunday evening and badly beaten by the security services.

Mr. Bol said there is no freedom of expression in the South Sudan and journalists are operating at their own risk.

The editor accused the government of changing the media bills which were drafted by the journalists a few years and it is delaying its publication.
