South Sudanese academicians started today a two-day meeting to discuss their role in post-referendum South Sudan.
Dhieu Mathok, from of the organizing committee, told participants that the assembly will form a body to represent and protect the interest of the people of South Sudan.He said the academicians are from different backgrounds that will cooperate with the government and the people of South Sudan in order to fulfill their dreams.
Dr. Dhieu dismissed the view that academicians should be in classrooms and campuses alone.
He added that they can advise on development issues to help policy makers take vital decisions.
The topics under discussion during the meeting include economy, trade, agriculture, energy, transportation, education, media, and health.
