Yei River County executive director urged all caretakers, parents and guardians to bring their children for polio vaccination.
Scopas Joseph Mogga said people should use this chance to vaccine children under five years of age against the crippling virus of polio, Easter Radio reported. The vaccine is free while the treatment against polio is very expensive and many times it is not able to reverse the damage caused by the virus.
Mr. Mogga appealed to all citizens to turn up for any campaign against disease citing the example of the yellow fever vaccination which people never took seriously.
He encouraged NGOs which are supporting polio programs to continue with their commitment to eradicate polio from the new country.
Mr. Mogga urged people to take care of themselves since the final celebration of the new nation is nearing.
The executive director made these statements during the official launch of a new polio campaign at Yei Freedom Square.
