GOVERNMENT STREAMLINES NGALUMA WATER SYSTEM

Eastern Equatoria authorities organized a four-day water conference in Ngaluma, Ikwoto County, in collaboration with Caritas, to discuss the new water supply system to Ikwoto and surrounding villages.

The conference that aims at discussing the sustainability of the water system in order to benefit the local population, kicking off yesterday and ends on Friday, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Eastern Equatoria Housing and Public Utility minister Mark Akio said a team of government official and the donor organization are discussing on the extension of the water facilities to benefit the nearby villages around Ikwoto town.

The minister added that the 25-kilometer water extension running from Ngaluma River down to Imatong ranges to the main town of Ikwoto is also benefiting four villages: Ngaluma, Cilok, Itieuso and Lokoro .

Mr. Akoi said the local community should contribute for the easy maintenance and smooth running of the water system.

The Ngaluma water project financed by Caritas took three years to be put in place.

The water system management will be handed over to the government on March 22, the International Water Day.
