Leaders from the 24 parties of South Sudan endorsed the referendum results and approved the name for the new state in a forum that took place today in Juba.
GoSS Vice president Riek Machar Teny told journalists that the meeting of all South Sudan political parties’ leadership unanimously approved the results of the referendum.He added that the leaders chose the name Republic of South Sudan for the new state.
Dr. Machar added that the flag, the name of the currency for independent South Sudan and the participation of opposition parties in the technical committee to review the Interim Constitution were among the issues to be discussed late this evening.
