Ramchiel traditional authorities are ready to give land for the federal capital of South Sudan without any conditions attached.

The resolution was reached during a meeting held in Rumbek on Saturday by representatives from Chiech-Manyiel County where Ramchiel is located.

Chiech leader Philip Kot Job told Good News Radio that his community fully supports the establishment of the capital of South Sudan in Ramchiel.

He said the community representatives unanimously agreed to provide the land with all its resources without conditions, refuting claims that the local community would want some form of compensation.

Mr. Kot said to build the capital of South Sudan in Ramchiel would bring many advantages to one of the most underdeveloped areas in Lakes State, including infrastructural development, job opportunities, learning institutions, and health facilities.

Ramchiel has been proposed as one of two possible sites for South Sudan’s federal capital.

The other site is Juba-East, in front of the current capital, across the White Nile with parts of Central and Eastern Equatoria, Jonglei and Lakes States.
