Life in the capital of Upper Nile State is slowly turning to normalcy after violent combats started Thursday evening between JIU forces that killed 11 people and wounded some 30.
SCR News correspondent said life is slowly becoming normal after the mutinied JIU soldiers loyal to Major General Gabriel Tanginya were relocated at Malakal Vocational Training Centre, in the South of the town, under the care of SPLA forces.
The mutineers who are part of the JIU forces stationed in Malakal did not want the heavy guns from the Unit to be relocated to the North.
By midday, Malakal County Commissioner appealed to shopkeepers to reopen their businesses, but very few heeded his call. In the market very few stalls were operating.
Our reporter said life in Malakal should be back to normal tomorrow and shops and market are expected to reopen again.
The authorities decreed a curfew after 8 PM to beef up security in town.
