The NCP and SPLM will meet in two months to resolve the outstanding issues on Abyei region.
Addressing the press, SPLM secretary general Pagan Amum said the presidency met this month and agreed to reduce the tension in Abyei.Mr. Amum added that SPLM hopes that the solution grant the people of Abyei their right to decide their fate.
He added that the parties will ensure that the rights of Misseriya to graze in Abyei will be protected regardless of the referendum results in Abyei.
He also mentioned that the borders of Abyei were settled in the Arbitration Court in Holland that re-defined the boders between the Misseriya and Dinka Ngok.
Mr. Amum said SPLM and NCP have agreed to seek assistance from the United Kingdom and African Union to mark the borders between south and north Sudan.
He noted that the borders will be demarcated in accordance to the January 1 1956 fronteer.
