A political commentator urged government of South Sudan not to abandon Abyei, Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains now that the referendum was conducted successfully.
John Ashworth told SCR News that the people of the three special areas supported south Sudan during the war.He said that Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile offered large numbers of combatants to the SPLA and they have suffered greatly due to their solidarity with the people of south Sudan.
Mr. Ashworth added that South Sudan needs also a peaceful neighbour and secure borders and should try to resolve the issues regarding those areas.
Mr. Asworth said that south Sudan was busy with the referendum and secession.
He said he hoped the government of south Sudan would now negotiate solutions for Nuba Mountains, Blue Nile and Abyei with its partners in the north.
