Youth and community leaders from the Tonj South and Cueibet counties concluded yesterday a one-week workshop on conflict resolution in a bid to curb cattle rustling violence between the two communities.

Gabriel Majok, who chairs the Tonj South Youth, told Don Bosco FM that the event was called for by the Gok Toc Youth association and the youth from Cueibet came to collect their Tonj counterparts for the training.

Mr. Majok said there was no evidence that the Gok community raided Cueibet cattle.

He added that thieves created a join committee in the bush to raid and exchange cows from both communities.

Andrea Acuoth, Cueibet’s youth leader, said the participants discussed the continuous killings and raiding of cows done by the cattle keepers to be stopped in the three counties, Tonj south and East, in Warrap State and Cueibet, in Lakes state.

Mr. Acuoth announced that a conference will be held within five days at Wunlit conducted by the two governors, commissioners from the three counties, paramount chiefs and youth from the cattle camps.

Mr. Acuoth said he hoped that cattle raiding would stop after these steps between the communities.

He added that the workshop was funded by Pact-Sudan.
