A member of parliament in the national assembly said the referendum results would determine SPLM’s participation in the national parliament.

Murat Misika told Bakhita Radio that in the event of secession and creation of a new state in the south the SPLM would stop to be represented in the national parliament.

He explained that the CPA and the Interim National Constitution allow the SPLM to remain in the national parliament till the end of the Interim period in July 9, 2011.

Mr. Misika said the SPLM MPs are on standby in case the government of South Sudan calls them home.

The MP prayed that everything would go smoothly as stipulated in the CPA and the National Interim Constitution.

Referendum provisional results for South Sudan are to be announced on Sunday morning in a feast at John Garang’s Mausoleum in Juba.
