The government of South Sudan should allow and encourage private secondary schools to cater for pupils who complete primary education.

This is the request Simon Alioni Apangu, Head Teacher of Wulu Mixed Secondary School in Lakes State, made through Good News Radio.

Mr. Alioni said that the new country of South Sudan will require more secondary schools and called upon the government to open the door to individuals who have the ability to open and own secondary schools.

He explained that such institutions would help educate the youth to become competent and develop the new nation.

Mr. Alioni said illiteracy is the new enemy of South Sudan and education is the best weapon to defeat it.

Mr. Alioni encouraged untrained teachers who left teaching to go for training using their little savings and resume their profession to help kids.

He called upon the Government to establish more institutions to train teachers.

Wulu Mixed Secondary School started two years ago and hopes to receive the first female student this year.

Last year, the school had 39 students.
