The foreign minister of Denmark called upon the National Congress Party and Sudan People’s Liberation Movement to respect the outcome of the referendum.

Talking to the local press today, Lene Espersen commended South Sudanese for the smooth conduct of the referendum saying it was a milestone in the implementation of the CPA.

She noted that it was encouraging to see so many south Sudanese to stand in long queues in an effort to be part of the exercise.

Ms. Espersen mentioned that there are difficult issues to be addressed like north and south cooperation.

She noted that the latter would enable the two regions find solutions to pending issues.

Ms. Espersen revealed that Denmark donated three million US dollars for the South Sudan referendum.
