OVER 99 PERCENT VOTE FOR SECESSION IN UPPER NILE STATE

The citizens of Upper Nile state voted overwhelmingly for secession in the southern Sudan referendum concluded ten days ago.

Tabling is still taking place before the preliminary results is announced on Sunday.

Simon Kun Pouch told Bakhita Radio in Malakal that four counties scored a turnout of 100 percent.

Mr. Kun said 99.22 percent of voters in Upper Nile chose separation.

Mr. Kun added that people overcame many challenges including long walking distances in order to vote.

He said remote areas do not have good road accesses.

Mr. Kun appreciated voters’ effort to reach the polling centres irrespective of long distances on foot.
