Eastern Equatoria governor urged women to take the lead in creating peaceful and harmonious ties among the diverse communities in the state.

Louis Lobong Lojore told a group of over fifty women representatives at State Palace in Torit yesterday that he would support an initiative by women towards development of the state especially by creating unity among the people.

The governor said the participation of women in the elections and the referendum was not their only contribution.

Mr. Lobong recognized the involvement of women in the liberation struggle that brought in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

The group of Eastern Equatoria state women visited the governor to congratulate him for the hard work during the referendum campaign.

The group was led by the state government advisor on gender, Zainab Yassin.
