The chairperson of the Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau is pleased with the successful conduct of the referendum process.
Chan Reec Madut told SCR News that the Bureau was able to complete a three-year process in a period of less than five months.He commended the efforts of the government and the people of South Sudan towards a free, fair and credible referendum.
Asked if there will be any challenges after the polling exercise, Justice Chan said that the Bureau has lived up to the expectations of south Sudanese and the little challenges are insignificant.
He said the preliminary results for South Sudan would be announced within ten days on January 30.
Justice Chan refused to give details of the referendum results saying that Bureau has not received most of the materials from most of the polling centres.
He said the materials would arrive at the Bureau within three to four days.
