The Catholic Bishop of Rumbek said the new nation of South Sudan should be built upon harmony and cooperation.

Bishop Caesar Mazzolari congratulated the people of South Sudan for the way they conducted the referendum and urged them to wait patiently for the final results.

He added that in order to build a new state people should remain united and cooperate fully in harmony and forgiveness.

He urged politicians to consult the citizens to prepare the constitution and the laws for South Sudan.

Bishop Mazzolari made these statements before leaving for Italy where he is conducting a fund-raising campaign to support the numerous primary schools the diocese runs.
