A domestic observers group praised the high turnout of women during the just-concluded referendum.
Merekaje Lorna, who heads Sudan Domestic Election Monitoring and Observation Programme (SuDEMOP) told the press today men and women turned vote in almost the same percentage.She said the women turnout was an important improvement compared to elections where women’s participation was low.
Ms. Merekaje made this comment while presenting SuDEMOP’s preliminary statement on the referendum.
The document says the referendum was free, fair, credible and transparent.
