Juba County referendum authority announced this afternoon the provisional referendum results.
Timon Wani Marcellino, who chairs the Juba County Referendum Sub-Committee, said over 96 percent of the registered voters took part in the poll and four percent did not turn up.He added that 97.5 percent voted for secession and 1.68 percent chose unity.
Mr. Wani explained that the results were preliminary and should be confirmed by the State high Committee, Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau and Southern Sudan Referendum Commission.
Over 225 thousand registered to vote in the South Sudan referendum in Juba County and some 216 thousand turned up at polling centres.
