A five-day workshop to train animators of Sunday School for children kicked off yesterday in Rumbek.
Fr. Fernando Colombo, a Comboni Missionary, heads the Pastoral, Liturgical, and Catechetical Institute of Rumbek Diocese. He told Good News Radio that the workshop aimed at training some leaders to stay with the children during the Sunday mass and help them to pray and understand their faith better.
Fr. Colombo said that the participants are mainly young people, including girls and mothers, since women are more gifted in educating and bringing children up.
The priest added that the workshop is the first step towards the preparation of Sunday School animators, and it will be followed up by other trainings.
He said the training will benefit the entire family explaining that a child who grows in faith will affects the whole family by the way he or she behaves, asks questions, and reacts to the day to day situation.
The workshop is sponsored by a German Catholic organization.
