Clashes between the insurgents of Yau Yau and Gatluak Gai with South Sudan army were reported in Pibor, Jonglei state, and in Unity.
GoSS minister for Internal Affairs Gier Chuang Aloung told the press this afternoon that the commissioner of police in Pibor reported the clashes that killed one civilian and a few men from Yau Yau’s side.Mr. Chuang added that a curfew after 11 pm was imposed in Pibor to beef up security.
Mr. Chuang revealed that there was also some fighting in Unity State between the SPLA and Gatluak’s militia.
He added that more than thirty militias were captured including two officers that are being brought to Juba.
Mr. Chuang re-assured the people of south Sudan that the security situation in the other parts remains normal and calm.
