The foreign ministry in the government of National Unity seized the passports belonging to SPLM appointed ambassadors representing the country in some African countries.

Lawrence Korbandy, Chairperson of the Southern Sudan Human rights Commission, told SCR News the ambassadors affected were nominated by SPLM under the CPA.

Mr. Korbandy said the foreign ministry called seven SPLM-appointed ambassadors to Khartoum for consultations and withdrew their diplomatic passports citing the coming referendum as excuse.

He added that other south Sudanese non-SPLM ambassadors were not called back.

Mr. Korbandy added that the action taken upon the ambassadors goes against diplomacy standards.

The ambassadors were unable to return to the places where their were representing Sudan and be reunited with their families.
