Yei Catholic bishop said different forms of religion bring peace between God and humankind.

Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe added that there should be freedom of religious worship and the people should not be forced into a particular religion.

Bishop Lodu urged the faithful to respect all people whatever their religious creed.

The bishop was reflecting on the Pope’s message for the World Peace Day that was celebrated on January 1 under the theme “Religious freedom a path to peace.”

Bishop Lodu added that although the 101 Days of Prayer towards a Peaceful Referendum in Sudan was closed officially on the World Day of Peace, it did not mean that people should stop praying for peace.

The bishop assured the faithful that their prayers for the peaceful referendum were not in vain.

Bishop Lodu added that he believed that God would bless the people of Sudan.

The bishop urged the faithful to remain optimistic about the upcoming referendum.

Bishop Lodu added that the referendum will be peaceful and people should give thanks to the Lord for the gift of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement which included the referendum.

The bishop made these statements during New Year’s mass at Christ the King Church in Yei.
