The head of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference called for prayers for peace in solidarity with the people of Sudan.
Archbishop Philip Wilson said the Sudanese people hope that with referendum they may finally close the door on an era of civil war, violence and bloodshed, CISA reported.Archbishop Wilson added that the referendum has the potential to bring change to a region plagued by instability, but it also brings fear, with tensions already rising and the threat of intimidation and violence.
The cleric said that any violence resulting from the referendum in Sudan may reach far beyond national borders and implicate other African nations in a bloody conflict.
Archbishop Wilson concluded urging the world to stay and informed of Sudan’s situation.
