The civil society accused the SPLM of delaying the voter registration to get the final report as quick as possible.
Anne Itto, who heads the SPLM southern sector, told journalists in Juba today that President Omar Hassan Bashir was the first to violate the Referendum Act when he appointed the chairperson of the Referendum Commission six months after the Act was passed in the Ntional Asembly.
Dr. Itto said the civil society should blame the NCP for delaying the entire referendum exercise instead and take it to court.
The Supreme Council for Peace and Unity filed a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court against the Referendum Commission, accusing the SPLM of controlling its performance in the legal and procedural issues related to voter registration.
