A nongovernmental organizations representative called upon women to report any violence against their rights to the Gender Desk Offices that are being established in many towns in South Sudan.

Rose Tabu is the nongovernmental organisations representative and Gender Based Violence officer for American Refugee Committee.

She told a gathering this afternoon during the celebration of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence in Yei’s Freedom Square that cases of gender violence should be reported to the Gender Desk Office so that the offenders are brought to justice.

Ms. Tabu said cases of rape should be reported so that the affected are counselled and tested whether they contracted HIV.

She appealed to couples to respect themselves and solve family matters amicably rather than through violence.

Ms. Tabu added that the number of street children was increasing in town because parents abandoned their children.

She said children are the future generation of Sudan and need special care.
