The time has come for the government to deliver basic services and the Churches to focus on spiritual growth.
This is the position Archbishop Paul Yugusuk from the Episcopal Church of Sudan shared with journalists yesterday during the march for the referendum.
Archbishop Yugusuk said during the struggle the churches worked in the fields of education, health and development.
He said time has come for the government of southern Sudan to embark on delivering basic services to the people while the Church concentrated on spiritual things.
Archbishop Yugusuk stated that the needs of the people of South Sudan increased over the past years and urged the government to double efforts to meet those needs.
He prayed for the government and for lawmakers and for separation.
Archbishop Yugusuk urged people to remain calm.
Archbishop Yugusuk said the Church will continue to support the people where the government cannot reach.
