Yei River County Commissioner visited the former nuncio to the Sudan and the catholic bishop of Yei yesterday morning.
Commissioner David Lokonga Moses was warmly welcomed by Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe who said Catholic Church in the Sudan played a big role in bringing peace in the country and among the communities, Easter Radio reported.Bishop Lodu added that the Catholic Church is doing a lot in educating competent and responsible leaders from their institutions.
Mr. Lokonga thanked the Church for its teamwork with the government in bringing peace in conflict situations.
In the same event Bishop Lodu said the Comprehensive Peace Agreement has given the people of Southern Sudan the right to choose session and it is the duty of the citizens to decide whether to vote for unity or separation.
Bishop Lodu urged t registrants to turn up for the vote on January 9 2011 adding that it is meaningless and useless for citizens to register and fail to vote.
The former nuncio is in Sudan for eight weeks to pray and share with the citizens the prayer for a peaceful referendum.
Archbishop Joseph Erewin Ender arrived in Yei diocese on Tuesday evening after visiting Wau, Khartoum, El Obeid and Juba catholic diocese.
