Ikwoto authorities in Eastern Equatoria have detained a number of persons arrested with 200 litres of a local alcoholic brew commonly known as “Nguli”, an illicit drink from Uganda.
The illegal stuff was transported by villagers on foot from the Ugandan border town of Agoro.County Commissioner Peter Lokeng Lotome told Emmanuel Radio that a truck with a full load of “Empire” spirit was also under detention at Ikotos.
Mr. Lokeng said the Nguli and Empire alcoholic drinks were very dangerous to human health.
He added that their consumption promoted immorality in the community especially among soldiers accelerating the spread of HIV AIDS.
Mr. Lokeng said the impounded alcoholic drinks would be destroyed.
