GoSS Director General of Social Welfare urged people with disabilities to vote for the independence of Southern Sudan in order to have full rights from UN conventions.
Nathan Woja Pitia made this appeal at the celebration of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities yesterday in Juba.Mr. Woja called on the disabled to register for the referendum and vote for independence so that the south Sudan government is able to sign the UN Conventions that protect people with disabilities.
He added that the disabled did not benefit from the country’s resources.
Mr. Woja stressed that the UN conventions guaranteed the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities including mobility, equal job opportunities, education and healthy working environment.
He urged GoSS, UN,and private organizations and civil society to give equal rights of employment to people with disabilities.
