GoSS minister for Information dismissed accusations alleging that he disclosed contents of a confidential document handed to the SPLM and NCP by the AU Panel with proposals to solve the Abyei impasse.
The allegations came in an AU press statement that did not reveal the source of the accusation.
Barnaba Marial Benjamin dismissed the allegation saying that neither the government nor the president had shown him the document containing the proposals.
Dr. Marial added that the position of GoSS and SPLM is to solve the Abyei issue through the Abyei protocol signed in Naivasha.
He asserted that his government is aware of the unfounded rumours in the media in Khartoum noting that the AU should not have quoted a source it does not want to reveal in its statement.
The Presidency was presented with a confidential document from the AU Panel with proposals on how to deal with the Abyei issue.
The document was to be kept confidential to ensure easy facilitation of the negotiations.
