An ever increasing influx of returnees in Central Equatoria state is bringing the work of resettlement to a standstill.
Stans Yatta is the director of Central Equatoria Returnees Rehabilitation Commission. He told SCR News that his office is dealing with an unforeseen number of returnees to be provided food assistance and relocation before voter registration.Mr. Yatta said the commission expected a huge number of returnees to arrive by barge in the coming days.
Mr. Yatta said returnees were verified upon arrival at the Juba port to be issued with token cards and food rations for three months.
He added that WFP failed so far to send staff to distribute the cards and the food.
Mr. Yatta said he summoned WFP to discuss the problem in order to speed the food distribution process.
Mr. Yatta said the returnees were coming in organized groups by air and by river.
