South Sudan army said military are the most vulnerable group to HIV but the institution has taken the challenge seriously.

General Hoth Mai, SPLA General Chief of Staff, said that the SPLA and other organized forces have taken the HIV issues seriously among their rank and file.

Mr. Hoth explained that armed forces were very vulnerable to HIV because they are always on the move.

He said his office established more than 11 voluntary counselling and testing centres to allow soldiers to know their HIV status.

Mr. Hoth warned that the enemy of southern Sudan would use HIV and Aids against the population of southern Sudan.

He advised the people of southern Sudan to protect themselves from the scourge.

Mr. Hoth made these statements at today’s celebration of World Aids Day with hundreds of people in attendance at John Garang’s Mausoleum in Juba.
