CHAS Executive Director Joy Mukaire told Good News Radio that the project aimed at scaling up activities to curb the spread of HIV AIDS in South Sudan.

Ms. Mukaire said the Project had four components including capacity building at the AIDS Commission and leading the ministries in charge of Education, Gender, Youth, Agriculture and Security to protect from the virus the populations key to development under their care.

She added that the third and fourth components were the civil society groups working in the field of HIV AIDS and the ministry of Health.

Ms. Mukaire explained that NGOs, community based organizations and faith based groups who worked in HIV AIDS care or prevention programmes would be supported to scale up their activities.

The project was launched in Rumbek with a two-day workshop that concluded today.

Forty participants from different organizations in Lake state outlined the gaps in HIV and AIDS prevention to come up with a comprehensive plan for a one-year project in Rumbek Central county.
