The Director General of Gender and Social Welfare in Wau State is calling on women to speak out any abuse they encounter in the community so they can be helped.

Ann Daniel, says it is painful to hear about women’ suffering as victims of domestic violence, rape and other abuses but nothing is done to the perpetrators. Voice of Hope Radio reports

She encourages women to speak out and seek help through the ministry of Gender.

Daniel expresses the readiness of her ministry to provide any further assistance to victims of gender based violence.

It is impossible to solve a problem if the problem is not known, she adds.

Ann attributed the rise of gender base violence in families due to the ongoing economic instability in the country.

UNFPA officer Mary mentioned that some parents abuses their own daughters sexually which is against the International Law of Human Rights.

Mary urges community leaders to pay much attention to any form of violence against women and girls and bring the perpetrators into book.
