Lack of food forces many people living with HIV/AIDs to decline from taking anti-retroviral medicines and return them to health facilities, says Chairperson of the Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS.
Lole Laila Lole says the high markets prices have made people with HIV not to adhere to life-saving treatment.
He warns that the on and off taking of HIV drugs may lead to resistance to treatment.
Laila appeals to nongovernmental organizations to supply food to the people living with the disease because they cannot afford to buy.
He also mentions that many people are not in treatment because of insecurity. He calls on the warring parties to bring peace.
Major Harriet Fouzia Ginaba, who works for Juba Military Referral Hospital, says rape is a big factor in spreading the disease.
She states that the rate of HIV at the hospitals varies from time to time.
The officials were speaking to CRN during the commemoration of the World AIDS Day on Friday in Juba.
