Imotong State Ministry of Education and Girls’ Education South Sudan or GESS have launched on Thursday cash transfer in Torit.
Hassan Urbano Imotong Sate Minister of Education says the launch aims at increasing the number of female learners in education, Radio Emmanuel reports.
Rose Achayo John, pupil at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Primary School under GESS program expresses her happiness for receiving the money.
She believes the money will help her to afford scholastic materials, advising her fellow girls who dropped out of school to go back to benefit from the fund.
Mary Rumano is another beneficiary from Torit East Primary School. She says before the GESS program was introduced to South Sudan, she used to brew alcohol to support her education.
Rumano expresses that the money will enable her to buy new scholastics materials and sanitary pads.
Galdino Angelo Oduma, Head Master of Torit East Primary School advises girls to make proper use of the money.
He warns parents who take away the girls’ money for their own interest. He stresses that the cash is meant for essential needs for girls only.
Angelo warns that parents or individuals who misuse the money will face the law.
