GoSS vice president said southerners’ right to self determination is key to their freedom and human rights.
Riak Machar Teny made this statement today in Juba at the launch of Southern Sudan Human Rights Commissions Forum.Dr. Machar explained that the main aim of the long struggle was ensure the people of southern Sudan enjoyed basic fundamental human rights.
He said the Southerners could achieve their rights through the referendum that determines their destiny.
Dr. Machar urged southerners to register in order to vote in January 2011 in order to fulfil their dreams.
He said no attempt would frustrate the conduct of the referendum.
Dr. Machar added that his government would ensure citizens were protected during the referendum process.
The Forum was the first ever held by the state heads of commission to strengthen their efforts for effective and efficient performance.
