The leader of a women association praised media openness towards women issues.
Apollonia Mathia, executive Directress of the Association of Media Women in Southern Sudan, told Bakhita Radio that there is a dramatic improvement in the media coverage of women issues across southern Sudan.Ms. Mathia explained that women across the region were given the opportunity to express themselves in different media outlets and their issues were talked about.
Ms. Mathia lamented that during the war the media did not pay attention to women.
The Association of Media Women in Southern Sudan was founded by seven members in 2008.
