The registration of voters for the upcoming Sudan referendum that kicked off yesterday is an exercise that qualifies voters to determine the future of the present and future generations.

This is the view of Abraham Marial Mangar after he registered in Rumbek Central County.

Mr Marial told Good News Radio that registration let him to take part in the referendum.

He added that the card he was holding represented the path of freedom.

Although the exercise of registration had a slow start in Rumbek, Jacob Laat Machol who supervises one referendum centre in town said at the close of the first day there were 238 voters registered, including 109 women, and five cards were invalid because they were not filled properly.

Mr. Laat added that the centre expected to register 2000 voters.

Rumbek Central and Yirol East Counties have 38 Registration Centres each, the highest in Lakes State. The State has 214 referendum centres spread over eight counties.
