Thousands of civilians have been displaced from Mathiang in Longochuk and Maiwut counties after an unpleasant fight last week, according to UNOCHA reports.

About twenty five aid workers from various humanitarian aid organizations were relocated from Pagak and surrounding areas on 6 and 7 July due to increase tension.

Looting of humanitarian premises and assets in Mathiang is being reported.

More than 40,000 peoples in Longochuk and Maiwut counties have been cut off from assistance in key locations, including Mathiang, Maiwut and Pagak, aid workers estimated.

Humanitarian organizations are deeply concerned about the dilemma of people in the areas affected by the conflict.

They call on all parties to maintain their responsibilities under international humanitarian and human rights law to protect civilians.

Also to provide free, safe and unhindered access for humanitarian organizations to return to these areas.
