SPLM lawmakers in Eastern Equatoria parliament met to discuss mobilization plans for voter registration and the position of the party on the referendum.

The meeting that took place yesterday in Torit was chaired by Governor Louis Lobong Lojore, Good News Radio reported.

Mr. Lobong remarked at the opening ceremony that the party leadership would set mobilization strategies for the registration due to start on Monday.

He called for free, fair and peaceful referendum campaigns as well as voting.

Kanuto Ekebek Aham, the team leader of SPLM officials from the Southern Sector, said the caucus met to send its MPs with one common message for sensitizing the rural communities in their respective constituencies.

Mr. Ekebek added that people should be told that the referendum was not a SPLM affair but for all Southerners in order to motivate their participation.

The SPLM leader called for reconciliation and togetherness among the people of Eastern Equatoria state by burying political differences from the April elections.
