Eastern Equatoria Parliament approved a budget of over 3.5 million Sudanese pounds to finance MPs’ participation on voters’ registration and referendum campaigns.
Tobby Xavier Lotto, head of the specialized committee for finance, said the House urged his committee to prepare a budget to finance the lawmakers’ referendum related activities, Emmanuel Radio reported.Mr. Lotto explained that the budget was elaborated after considering the activities MPs should perform at constituency level during the 57 days of voters’ registration, campaigning and the vote itself.
Mr. Lotto emphasized that the funds would enable lawmakers to mobilize the people to make the referendum a success.
He added that the budget covered transport, hospitality, meeting facilities, public address systems, rally materials, accommodation and facilitation for agents.
