GoSS Minister for Energy and Mining yesterday announced an environmental audit to the oil extraction to assess the industry’s damages and liabilities.
Garang Diing Akuong told the press that his government will review all oil contacts signed by the North in order to improve the negative impact the industry may have in the community.Mr. Diing added that audit done with Norway’s support will determine damages do the environment and displacement caused by the oil companies.
The minister said the audit will be conducted by a reputed international company and the partners will have to implement the recommendations and shoulder the liabilities.
