Caritas Torit on Saturday distributed food items to over four hundred vulnerable persons in the town.

Acire Anthony, Emergency Officer for Caritas Torit, says the distribution targets widows, disables and elderly because they cannot support themselves, Radio Emmanuel reports.

He says his organization is working hard to ensure vulnerable groups have equal rights to living like the able ones.

The project targets only one thousand households which he says may not serve the bigger population, Anthony clarifies.

Lina Itwari, a beneficiary, says she is now happy and feels strong after receiving 15 kilograms of maize floor, 8.3 kgs of beans, 3.3 kgs of sugar and 1.5 liters of cooking oil.

She says the food items will help sustain her family for another time.

Paulino Philip, a 65-year-old father to 16 children; thanks Caritas Torit for the big support given to vulnerable people.

Though little, it is better than nothing, he acknowledges.

Philip calls on humanitarian organizations to put much emphasis on vulnerable groups who are the most affected.
