People should never face famine because of conflict and there must be peace, said the United States Congress member on Thursday in Juba.

Karen Bass expresses their will to continue to support the country as long as the path for peace is clear.

He spoke after visiting camps in Bentiu, Juba, Bidi Bidi, Uganda and some government officials regarding the humanitarian aid situation in the country.

The Congress member describes the reason for the visit as sense of urgency to help and know the shortages in humanitarian aid.

Christopher Smith, Chairman of sub-committee on Africa, Global Health and Human Rights says humanitarian aid is unusual and needs peace.

Humanitarian nightmare is a side effect of conflict, he notes.
