A peacekeeper was shot by unknown armed men late in the night while guarding a water point in Darfur.
Unidentified gunmen fled the scene after United Nations and African Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) forces retaliated with fire, the Mission said in its daily media brief.The peacekeeper was evacuated to the UNAMID hospital in El Fasher where he remains in a stable condition.
The Mission appealed to the Sudanese authorities to speedily investigate the incident to bring the perpetrators to justice.
