A national human Rights organization, ”The Screen of Rights” has welcomed the move taken by the government to suspend the increase of fees for working permit.

The organization says in a statement that the increment from 100 to 10.000 US Dollars declared last month would scare away aid workers.

It praises the National Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, saying it has taken the right decision at a right time.

The Screen of Rights describes the suspension of the fees as wise move taken by the minister.

It urges the parliamentarians to consider regional and international standards when determining and discussing possible approval or rejection of the increment of work permit fees.

Reech Malual, Screen of Rights Director says the increment was too much to be approved by the National Legislative assembly.

He describes it as abnormal and was not studied well.

Director Malual says there are many foreign workers who are serving South Sudanese in harsh and insecure situations, accepting to die so that the people can live.

He believes increasing the fees for work permit from 100 to 10.000 dollars per year could only contribute to more death cases following starvation.

Director Malual says there is need to consider other UN volunteers who receive below four thousand US Dollars and other non UN workers who earn lesser.
