A Catholic bishop urged southerners to master their emotions ahead of the referendum scheduled to take place earlier next year in order to welcome whatever result.
Bishop Edward Hiiboro Kusala of Tombura-Yambio told SCR News that southern Sudan citizens should prepare their emotions for any outcome of the referendum results.Bishop Hiiboro explained that the vote for independence was not only about a flag or a government but also personal changes and discussion on the type of government to be put in place.
Bishop Hiiboro said the Catholic Church dedicated 101 Days for Prayer for a Peaceful Referendum in order to prepare the faithful for its outcome.
He added that citizens should react to any unforeseen referendum result with faith and calm and without violence.
Southerners are about to vote in a referendum on January 9 next year whether to remain part of Sudan or have a separate sovereign state of their own.
