The Catholic Bishop of Tombura-Yambio condemned the proposed military action against the Ugandan Rebels, saying it is commercially motivated.

Bishop Edward Hiiboro Kusala said the use of military force against the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) would bring more havoc to the Western Equatoria.

Bishop Hiiboro blamed Uganda, DR Congo, Central Africa and Sudan for lack of political will to tackle the LRA issue.

He added that governments use the LRA to get military and other aid.

Bishop Hiiboro advocated for a political solution that passes through pressure on the LRA leadership including cutting communications with supporters.

Last week, the African Union announced that Uganda, South Sudan, DR Congo and Central Africa were launching another joint military operation to crush the LRA rebellion.

The solution was already tried two years ago with no positive benefit for the populations affected by the LRA.
